Melia Stover

Melia is a math teacher at Fred T. Foard High School in Catawba County.  She strives to connect secondary mathematics to real-world thinking and decision making, believing math should be engaging, relevant, and rooted in experiences that build confidence and curiosity. She has experience across elementary, middle, and high school settings, including roles in special education, ESL, and teacher mentorship, giving her a broad perspective on student learning and growth. She is excited to serve as a Learning Happens Here Teacher Ambassador and is especially interested in sharing strategies that increase student engagement and highlight authentic learning. Outside of the classroom, she enjoys spending time with her family, which includes two goldendoodles who ensure there is always a little energy, a little trouble, and something to clean up.
