Hannah Moon

English Teacher, Laney High School

Hannah Moon is a passionate veteran English educator at Laney High School in Wilmington, NC, where she earned both her B.A. in English literature and M.Ed. in Secondary Education from UNCW. In addition to being a National Board Certified Teacher since 2021, she also serves as a member of the National Humanities Center Teacher Advisory Council, the North Carolina Governor’s Teacher Advisory Council, the NHCS Finance Committee, and is a UNC Morehead-Cain Impact Educator. In 2025, she was named the North Carolina Southeast Regional Teacher of the Year, selected from over 5,000 high-quality educators. Outside of the classroom, Hannah's 2 energetic children are the light of her life and keep her busy coaching soccer, spending long days on the beach, and exploring North Carolina’s beautiful scenery. When she has a second to breathe, she loves to read, travel, shop, and maintain her 1215-day streak on Duolingo. She is honored and excited to be a Learning Happens Here Teacher Ambassador so she can share her love for North Carolina's resources with her students and everyone!
