Fifth Grade Teacher, Cumberland Mills Elementary

Edwin Makini is a 5th grade teacher at Cumberland Mills Elementary School in Fayetteville, North Carolina. He teaches math, science, social studies, and reading, working closely with upper elementary students to build strong academic foundations. With seven years of teaching experience, he has developed a student-centered approach that emphasizes curiosity, critical thinking, and real-world connections. He is also an accomplished author of five books, reflecting his passion for literacy and lifelong learning. He is excited to serve as a Learning Happens Here Teacher Ambassador, especially in sharing innovative practices and connecting with other educators. Outside the classroom, he enjoys writing, reading, exploring nature, and playing soccer.
