First Grade Teacher, Third Creek Elementary

Ellen Wood is a first grade teacher at Third Creek Elementary in the Iredell-Statesville Schools District. Ellen originally had a career in non-profit public relations and communications, but followed an unexpected calling into education. Now, she can’t imagine doing anything else. In her classroom, she fosters compassion, creativity, and curiosity while helping her students build strong foundations in reading, writing, and math. As a DNCR Teacher Ambassador, she is excited to blend her communication background with her love for teaching and to experience and share all that makes North Carolina special with fellow educators. Outside of school, Ellen cherishes time with family and is working toward her goal of spending 1,000 hours outside this year.
